How to read an account suspension notice
9 minReviewed: 2026-10-30Content changed: 2026-10-15
You know which policy the notice names, what it asks you to do, and what you need to collect — without guessing the “real reason”.
Scope
- Account-level suspension emails and the red banner inside Google Ads.
- Ad-level disapprovals are a different process and are not covered here.
What to prepare
- The full notice text, copied without edits
- The date and time you received it
- A list of changes made to the account in the last 30 days
Steps
Copy the notice exactly
Keep the original English text. Translations help you understand it, but the policy name in the original is what matters for the appeal.
Illustration areaTip for this stepPaste it into the Appeals task: the original stays next to the plain-language explanation.Find the policy name
Notices usually name one policy, for example “Suspicious payment activity” or “Circumventing systems”. Look it up in the Google Ads policy help.
Separate facts from guesses
Write three lists: what the notice says, what you know happened in the account, and what you suspect but cannot confirm. Only the first two go into an appeal as facts.
Check what the notice asks you to do
Some notices ask for verification or payment confirmation; others allow an appeal directly. Follow that path rather than a generic template.
Collect evidence of real changes
If you fixed something, keep before/after screenshots with dates. Do not claim fixes you have not made.
Expected result
- The policy name and the requested action are written down
- Facts, your observations and hypotheses are in separate lists
- A list of materials to collect
